Objects with Context

Bringing the leather mod series to the bar cart with Wickett & Craig English Bridle.

An obsessive appreciation for fine, high-utility things and the legacy brands that make them is a massive driving force for what we do at Twenty-one Astor. Whether it is a steel toolbox from Toyo or a classic timepiece, great design deserves to be celebrated. Our leather modding series is born from that exact perspective. The goal is not to change or improve products that are already exceptional, but to add a layer of color, texture, and a human feel that only leather can provide.

Following up on the Tsubota Pearl lighters we put together last week, I wanted to apply this same philosophy to a quiet evening routine. The result is a custom wrap designed for premium crystal whiskey glasses from Godinger.

While the concept remains the same, a change in an object's environment requires a change in the material strategy. For barware, I selected a beautiful English Bridle leather from the historic Wickett & Craig tannery. Known for its traditional wax finish and deep depth of color, English Bridle is incredibly durable. It balances the heavy, cold crystal with a rich, tactile surface that sits comfortably in the hand and is built to withstand years of use.

The specific piece featured in this story was developed as a monogrammed version for a special housewarming gift. Adding that subtle stamp of personalization transforms a timeless piece of glassware into a permanent marker of a major milestone.

That level of intentionality is exactly why we are introducing these to the workshop lineup just in time for Father’s Day. A gift for Dad should not be something transient. By hand-stitching each wrap right here at the bench, we ensure that the leather has the opportunity to record its own history, developing a unique character and patina alongside the crystal through a lifetime of handling.

Stock whiskey glass sleeves are available on the site. Whether you are looking for a singular addition to a desk setup or a full set for the bar cart, they are built to elevate the objects you interact with every single day.
